Many word processing documents, including Google Docs, masquerade as a graphical program with a number of interesting and useful features. You can refine the image, apply special effects and perform basic operations such as cropping, resizing, rotating, tilting or inverting. The goal is to make the image look exactly the way you want it to.In today’s tutorial, we’ll look at two ways to flip or rotate (or mirror) an image in Google Docs.
In the first option, we will see how to send an image back to Google Docs using the rotate feature. Then, in the last part, we will see how to do the same thing with the drawing tool in Word.
Without further ado, let’s begin.
Rotating an image in Google Docs using the image options
Start Google Docs if it is not already open. You can read this article on how to open Google Documents.
Step two: Place the image you want to mirror
Before you can run an image in Google Docs, you must first make it available by pasting it.
To insert an image into Google Docs, simply click the cursor where you want to insert the image and click Insert > Image > Download from computer. Find and select the image you want to insert.
Step three: Right-click on the image and select Image Settings.
Once the image has been successfully inserted, right-click on it and select Image Options.
The picture adjustment window on the right opens. This panel contains many editing functions that allow you to resize, rotate, drag text, position text, change color, and make certain image adjustments.
Step four: Select Size and Rotation from the Image Settings panel.
In the Image Settings section, you can see the size and rotation. Click to enlarge.
Under Size and Rotate you’ll see several commands to resize and rotate the image.
In the Rotation group, play with the button to adjust the degree of rotation of the image.
Once you’re done rotating the image, you can close the Image Settings panel and save your work.
That’s it, the process of inserting and rotating an image in Google Docs consists of 4 steps.
To mirror an image in Google Docs using the pinboard
Using the drawing board in Google Docs makes it much easier to correct images than doing it directly on the page.
In the following steps, I’ll show you how to flip an image in Google Docs in just a few clicks.
Let’s get started.
Start Google Docs if it is not already open. You can read this article on how to open Google Documents.
Step two: Place the image you want to mirror
Before you can mirror an image in Google Docs, you must first make it available by pasting it.
To insert an image into Google Docs, simply click the cursor where you want to insert the image and click Insert > Image > Download from computer. Find and select the image you want to insert.
Step three: Select the image and crop it.
After pasting the image to be mirrored, right-click on it and choose Cut from the context menu.
You can also press Ctrl+C to crop the image.
Step four: Open the drawing board in Google Docs
To open the Google Docs drawing panel, go to the Insert tab, click it, and a drop-down list of items will appear. Choose New from the list of drawings, and then choose New again from the expanded list.
After this step, the drawing sheet window appears as shown in the following figure;
Step 5: Paste the copied image
When the drawing board opens, press Ctrl+V to paste the image you copied in step 3.
Step six: Right click on the image and choose Rotate > Flip Horizontally or Flip Vertically.
After inserting an image, right-click on it to access the image’s link elements.
Go to Rotate and select Mirror Horizontally or Mirror Vertically to permanently mirror the image. You can also rotate it 90 degrees clockwise or 90 degrees counterclockwise.
With these steps, you can easily create a mirror of an image in Google Docs.
Conclusion
The first option (Image Options panel) allows you to freely rotate images in Google Docs at any angle.
However, if you only want to flip or mirror the image horizontally or vertically, the second method is the most effective.
Which method you use depends entirely on how you want to rotate or mirror the image.
